Diva chef's are takin it to the streets!

http://missionstreetfood.blogspot.com/

Sooooo new food trend: street food; bougie street food that is. I believe it was a team of diva-chef's started this movement in a food truck, and then moved it into a Chinese resto on mission st, encouraging critics to question whether it can still be dubbed 'street food' anymore. None the less, a different head chef hosts the menu every week, bringing their own flare to the mix: asian, new-american, and this week --> soul!

menu highlights:
--smoked Duck BEIGNETS with sheep's milk cheese
--gulf prawns with GRITS, kumquats, blood orange, bacon, scallions.

--DIRRRRTY Rice with rare grass fed beef, mint, sweet onion, chiles.

nothing costing over $14. Diva for $14 or less, HOLLER!

go hard or go home, maaaaaaaaan

A yummy collabo for you:

Jay-Z on iLike - Get updates inside iTunes

People shave their heads all the time.

After watching Britney's documentary I realized a couple things

1. I too go through life as a karate kid.
2. Homegirl is HEAVILY medicated
3. I thoroughly enjoy being able to walk, and be unknown.
4. I'd rather be rich, not famous.
5. She's going down the same path, again. fame-->tragedy-->fame-->tragedy
6. I want my documentary to be funny, happy, and with dance music.

Her doc reminded me of Lost in Translation for some reason. Holler to the cinematographer I guess.

Gosh darn it. I've fallen for a video vixen.

There is currently no shows catering to music on the channel dubbed "Music Television". However, even though TRL is cancled, I think MTV has been tightening their music game by exposing underground-ish artists: Murs, Vampire Weekend et al. (I do have to admit of cringing when I see an artist that I know grace my screen).
Enter: SantoGold.
Maybe nothin is underground anymore, since I'm pretty sure she is a product of Myspace. Nevertheless, I can't stop listening to L.E.S Artistes. Upon coppin' her CD via underground methods, I couldn't help but dub her a pseudo MIA or even Gwen Stefani (circa Tragic Kingdom or Return of Saturn). Even her haircut has been done, having rocked the a-symetrical 'do myself; be it a few years ago. Sprinkles of originality do appear on her LP, she still vindicates the idea that nothing is organic anymore. This being said, her CD was my flavor of the week for a couple weeks now. :P

And the winner is...

Stay tuned for The DIVA Awards 2008.

Suggestions welcome.

The flyest trend for Spring '09

and we all remember this one:

Breezy with Gold Bag.

If I were the Sartorialist, thats how I'd title my pictures.

Nonetheless, this outfit is adorbs, and girrrrrrl is killin it with that gold bag with pink nails; love, love the grunge/chic contrast. Looks like she got the memo about Harajuku, but she's rockin it.

Death of Harajuku, in the form of H&M

Out with the old, in with the new....

Japanese Times is reporting fear for the wellbeing of Harajuku. With the recent opening of an obese H&M in early November, locals feel that this sweedish chain will choke the local 'fast fashion' competition; UNIQLO and Ginza being the likley victims. The fear being that H&M, an invasive species of globalized fashion, is pushing Harajuku into uniformity. In a town known for its obscurity, fashion-monoculture is better thought of as the fashion-plague.

Does this mean I should pocket the $1k on a Japan flight and just go to H&M on Powell? *sigh*

Putting the Diva in Land Use!

Yes, the desire to say 'diva' might ping you in your side, but Congestion Pricing (CP) is the new hip trend in land use planning. Opposition claims that its double taxation for drivers. Those against the CP plan for Doyle Dr (the road up to the Golden Gate Bridge) claimed that this charge to be a "Marin Commuter' tax; I say: if the shoe fits. In fact, this is not double taxation. Why, you ask? Drivers actually do not pay anywhere near the real cost for driving.
Gas: subsidized
Infrastructure: subsidized
Not to mention the hidden costs like: time lost in traffic and the environment. Cars do not pay anywhere near the costs that they impose on others. CP would begin to fix that. First off, a CP program generates HELLA money. London's program alone accumulated over $250 million of net revenue last year, this money all being put back into public transit.

Ultimatley, I'm sick of the government catering to this auto-oriented culture. This culture that has ended up being the biggest economic, environmental, political, and cultural disaster of this nation's history. What's left?

Congestion Pricing its whats for dinner.
