Death of Harajuku, in the form of H&M

Out with the old, in with the new....

Japanese Times is reporting fear for the wellbeing of Harajuku. With the recent opening of an obese H&M in early November, locals feel that this sweedish chain will choke the local 'fast fashion' competition; UNIQLO and Ginza being the likley victims. The fear being that H&M, an invasive species of globalized fashion, is pushing Harajuku into uniformity. In a town known for its obscurity, fashion-monoculture is better thought of as the fashion-plague.

Does this mean I should pocket the $1k on a Japan flight and just go to H&M on Powell? *sigh*
