I'm not a chef, I just cook a lot.

Turmeric and Mexican Oregano chicken roasted over a bed of onions and lemon. The chicken rests atop a bed of french lentils, which were brought to a boil in homemade chicken stock with red potatoes and carrots.

Poached egg on top of swiss and ham with some lightly steamed asparagus.

Nothing more satisfying than an heirloom potato roasted with some grassy olive oil, garlic and fresh herbs.

Holla @ Me

Wait... is this Chris Brown? Why is he rapping? Oy vey.... Houston, we have a problem.

I don't mind the video, very 1999 Cash Money, but Chris Breezy, we only like you when you swoon the ladies, right? This song is going on some Mixtape, and CB is supposed to come out with a follow up to his Graffiti flop later this year. YIKES!

La Comida

LA ROUX

Finally got to see my girl La Roux. If you are reading this right now, you are most likely a loyal reader, all two of you, so you remember when I mentioned a trip to Washington DC to see her perform. Well, the heavens were not in my favor, and God decided to throw SnowMaggedon on the East Coast blahblahblah, La Roux was cancelled (frowny-face). All was lost in the world - until last night.

I finally saw homegirl at The Fillmore. La Roux jumped onto the stage and brought with her instant energy. Everyone on stage is decked out in accents of 80's gear, the bassist is wearing this Joker/Two-Face type jacket, and La Roux herself wearing a black suit coat with white trim. They had that effortless flash. I love how androgynous La Roux is, if you were standing behind her you'd probably think she was a boy, a guy behind me nailed it when he referenced her to David Bowie.

All in all, the show was amazing; she performed a cover of the Rolling Stones "Under My Thumb", but she did forget the words to "Growing Pains" and neglected to perform "Reflections are Protections," my fave song on the track, but I have since come to terms with it. The music is so upbeat and bouncy that when a new song came on, it was like she was plugging you into the wall for an instant energy boost. YUM!

Atmospheric: the AM edition.

I look up in the sky for perspective on life. It might have started with my Mom. She was a fan of finding shapes in clouds. A fish, a firetruck, an ice cream cone. During the day I am taken by the clouds; they are always on the run, rushing from low pressure cells, to high pressure cells. The Bay Area is accustomed to the low lying fog, which is majestic in its own right, but there is something amazing about a storm cloud and its tall superman stature. Much like myself, clouds wear their heart on their sleeve; they tell you when they're busy and in a rush, or angry and about to cry, or when they're content and smiling with sunlight. When there is a break in the sky and golden rays of sun part the marshmallow-clouds, it makes me believe there is something special beyond the visible, beyond the moment. So when you're feeling cloudy, just tilt your head up and stare at the sky, and let the clouds sweep away the problems plaguing your day, because in the end, you're nothing but a spec in this universe.
