Meet the End of the World.

The Nano is the Indian answer to an affordable ride. It is small, fast, and environmentally friendly. With the perils surrounding the demand for oil, this sounds like the kind of ride that everyone should be cruising in.

Ahhh, but the daydream must end. The Achilles heal of this automobile is simply that it is Indian, and will be marketed to the Indian community. The first 100,000 units have already been accounted for , and the lucky drivers will be chosen at random. The environmental tear drops begin to swell when considering that many of these new car owners where once public transit and bicycle loyalists.

Priced at just under $2,000, the Nano is grossly affordable. When compared to the Smart Car, the Nano doesn't have as many bells/whistles, but it does have two extra doors and costs over 80% less, with the Smart Car starting at $11,990. The Nano is expected to reach UK markets by 2011.
