Finally got to see my girl La Roux. If you are reading this right now, you are most likely a loyal reader, all two of you, so you remember when I mentioned a trip to Washington DC to see her perform. Well, the heavens were not in my favor, and God decided to throw SnowMaggedon on the East Coast blahblahblah, La Roux was cancelled (frowny-face). All was lost in the world - until last night.
I finally saw homegirl at The Fillmore. La Roux jumped onto the stage and brought with her instant energy. Everyone on stage is decked out in accents of 80's gear, the bassist is wearing this Joker/Two-Face type jacket, and La Roux herself wearing a black suit coat with white trim. They had that effortless flash. I love how androgynous La Roux is, if you were standing behind her you'd probably think she was a boy, a guy behind me nailed it when he referenced her to David Bowie.
All in all, the show was amazing; she performed a cover of the Rolling Stones "Under My Thumb", but she did forget the words to "Growing Pains" and neglected to perform "Reflections are Protections," my fave song on the track, but I have since come to terms with it. The music is so upbeat and bouncy that when a new song came on, it was like she was plugging you into the wall for an instant energy boost. YUM!
